The Window

Looking out the window all I can see

Is mummy and daddy looking for me

They're searching the garden and the pond

Shouting my name but I don't respond

I wave from my window but they don't know

I'm out of sight from the ground below

Too far away to be seen or heard

Locked in the room where nothing stirred

Mummy cries out as the pond is draining

Leaning over, her neck is craning

As daddy jumps in and grabs my body

Dishevelled, lifeless and rather soggy

My shell now found it is time to leave

Mummy and daddy can sadly grieve

My door can be opened and my soul is free

So I spread my wings and insert the key
